The Return

A “Never to be Forgotten” event doesn’t happen often, but the September 26, 2020 Day of Repentance and Prayer (The Return) on the Washington DC Mall was one of those life changing, unforgettable days for me.

When the news came that Christians from all over the nation and the world were being asked to meet at the Washington Mall and pray for our country, as 2 Chronicles 7:14 says: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”, I knew I wanted to be there.

Arriving at the site was most impressive. A giant stage had been erected near the Washington Monument, with massive amounts of sound equipment, giant screens on either side of the podium and all kinds of trailers and electronic stuff that I know nothing about.

But, the people, oh my goodness, the people who were streaming onto the grassy mall were coming in mass. Actually, I had wondered how many would take the risk to make the journey during the Covid pandemic. By the thousands they came, filling up the space. What a sight!

Of course, the speakers were wonderful. Ann Graham Lots, Johnathan Cahn, Mike Lindell, Ben Carson, and many other Christian leaders spoke powerfully and eloquently. But, the amazing thing was to see the thousands of believers fill the Washington Mall with a desire to pray for our nation and other nations to return to God. What a sight!

The atmosphere was electric and the Spirit of the Lord was palatable. Believers from all walks of life, different denominations, different cultures and races came together in unity to pray for the Kingdom of the Living God to be manifest and visible through God’s people. It was a thrill to be part of such a day when “The Body of Christ” showed up in mass to declare the glory of our King, Jesus. It was a day I shall certainly never forget.

Blessings,
